The good
- White water rafting down grade 5 rapids on the mighty Nile
- Seeing tree climbing lions in Ishasha, Queen Elizabeth National Park
- Fantastic wildlife viewing while boating down the Kazinga channel
- Stunning drive through the Bwindi Impenetrable forest and the tea plantations
The bad
- Crammed, crazy and chaotic traffic in Kampala
- Tribal violence in Kampala which led to the death of 14 people the week before we arrived in the country
- National Park fees
The curious
- The source of the Nile: the pursuit of explorers for centuries and a point of constant debate but apparently Burundi, Rwanda and Uganda have diplomatically agreed that each country has a source of the Nile. Burundi has the southern most source, Rwanda the longest and Uganda the largest…
- Lions can quite easily tear through the flimsy canvas of a tent but they very rarely disturb humans in this way, a fact which gave us little comfort when we were woken up at 5 in the morning by the roar of a male lion standing right next to our tent.
